Jama Masjid, or the Large Mosque, is all with the opposite, the north of the city, in Old Delhi, in the heart of an inextricable bazaar where one could stroll of the hours. Built to the 17 2nd century, it is the vastest mosque of India. Its gigantic esplanade can accomodate, in addition to capacities of the vast room of prayers, tens of thousands of faithful. It is bordered of galleries. The mosque is characterized by three enormous domes of marbles white and black in alternation, the remainder of the building being red sandstone. Not far from there and also from red sandstone, obviously:)), Strong Red. It is in a worse state of conservation than that of but justifies the visit nevertheless. The most delicate monument and most beautiful (with my taste!) is the Mosque of the Pearl, very of white marble, which one owes with the last of Large Moghols, the Aurangzeb Emperor. |

Going down still a little towards the south, one will not avoid visiting the tomb of the emperor Humayun, wonder architectural of red sandstone and white marble. Humayun was the son of Babur, the first of the large Moghols conquerors, originating in Central Asia , and the father of Akbar, most prestigious of Large Moghols. Humayun itself règna only one ten years at the beginning of the 16 2nd century. For me, the tomb of Humayun is the most beautiful monument of the city. |
